Hi – I’m Alison Coady and I’ve been interested in fitness for a long time – enjoying Aerobics classes, Horse Riding and Cycling from a young age. Then when I got married I lost my way a bit fitness-wise, had children and became rather overweight. To combat that I joined a slimming club and also became very motivated to exercise at home and consequently lost 50lbs which I have maintained now for over 9 years. I am a keen cyclist and walker, going regularly on long off-road cycles and walks with my partner – we climbed Ben Nevis raising money for the NSPCC two years ago, and have walked a lot of the South West Coast Path. I recently left employed work as a Pre-School teacher to enable me to concentrate solely on developing my own fitness business – teaching Zumba and Fitness Pilates - in a more professional manner (which I ran alongside my employed work for the last 4.5 years), as it is very important to me to deliver good quality instruction.

I started out as a Zumba Instructor 4.5 years ago, after going to Zumba classes for exercise, not even knowing what it was - and becoming good friends with my Instructor, who encouraged me to become an Instructor in my own right – which I did, and I have not looked back since. The year after I became a Zumba Instructor, I took my ETM qualification as I firmly believe that anyone teaching fitness classes of any type should be properly qualified. I have since also taken my Fitness Pilates qualification to enable me to diversify a bit and to give my participants some choice. I am always looking for ways to grow my business, and I love that Zumba offers many different genres so that I can constantly offer my groups new ideas.

I specialise mainly in Zumba and Fitness Pilates, and currently have some well-established classes in and around Totton, near Southampton, with ideas for gradual expansion.

I genuinely love what I do, and I aim to provide classes which are fun, non-judgemental and all-inclusive where everyone feels welcome and encouraged, whatever their level of ability. I have had experience teaching Zumba to all sorts of different people – including young people from the ages of 12 to 18 at Tatchbury Mount (An NHS secure unit in Totton which helps young people with complex mental health problems which mean they pose a risk to themselves or others). People in my evening classes currently range from age 16 up to about 65 - men and women - and are of all different types, shapes, fitness levels, weights, and I feel that I am able to cater for anyone, and adapt accordingly. I also update my skills regularly by attending workshops offered by Zumba and taking their online courses, and I am always looking out for ways to make my classes fresh.

Zumba and Pilates.

“All classes are filled with enthusiasm and excitement and it is such a joy to attend every single one. Along with her detailed professional knowledge of fitness, Alison offers help and advice on how each individual could improve and offers it with a friendly attitude. She is a lovely, well rounded person and welcomes everyone to her classes no matter what. Such a jolly person who doesn't care what anyone looks like and is not afraid to laugh at herself either.”

Fitness Class Instructor.

“I attended my first Fitness Pilates class with Alison on Tuesday 5th January 2016 and I absolutely loved it. Exercise is not a word that is in my vocabulary normally, but I have always wanted to try Pilates and so when I say this class advertised, I thought I would have a go. Alison made me feel extremely welcome and answered any questions I asked. All movements/exercises were explained thoroughly and I left the class after the hour feeling more relaxed, a lot less tense and really feeling like I had had a workout. I immediately booked a loyalty card for another ten sessions! Give it a go.”
